WHO WE ARE
R3 Stem Cell California is the California arm of R3 Stem Cell, one of the most experienced regenerative medicine networks in the United States. We connect patients across Northern and Southern California with qualified providers who offer minimally invasive, nonsteroidal regenerative procedures for joint pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and soft tissue injuries.
We are not a single clinic. We are a network of affiliated provider locations spanning both ends of the state, from San Diego and Irvine in the south to Pleasanton, Sacramento, and Turlock in the north, all operating under the clinical standards and patient-first philosophy that R3 Stem Cell has built over more than a decade.
What makes us different from the many regenerative medicine businesses that have appeared across California in recent years is straightforward: we have the track record, the research, and the transparency to back up what we say.
OUR STORY
R3 Stem Cell was founded in 2012 by David Greene, MD, PhD, MBA, a residency and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who stepped away from clinical practice after recognizing that the standard tools of pain management, cortisone, narcotics, anti-inflammatory medications, were masking symptoms without addressing what was actually wrong with patients’ tissue.
What started as a concept developed at Arizona State University’s WP Carey School of Business grew into something much larger than Dr. Greene anticipated. The premise was straightforward: give patients access to regenerative procedures that use the body’s own biology to support repair, at a price point that does not require a second mortgage, with providers who communicate honestly about what these therapies can and cannot do.
Over the following decade, R3 Stem Cell expanded across the United States and into seven additional countries. California, with its large patient population, active lifestyle culture, and high demand for non-surgical alternatives, became one of the network’s most important regions.

OUR FOUNDER
Dr. David Greene is a residency and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, the founder and CEO of R3 Stem Cell, and one of the most recognized voices in regenerative medicine in the United States.
After years in clinical orthopedic practice, Dr. Greene made a deliberate choice to leave surgery behind and focus on something he believed had more potential to help more people: regenerative medicine. He saw patients who were either not surgical candidates, were not ready for surgery, or simply wanted to explore every other option first, and he built R3 Stem Cell to serve them.
Dr. Greene holds degrees from Brown University, the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and Arizona State University. He has authored two books on healthcare, has been featured on the cover of Corporate Vision magazine for his impact on regenerative medicine globally, and has spoken extensively at provider training events across the country.
Under his leadership, R3 Stem Cell pursued Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for clinical research into regenerative therapies with amniotic and umbilical cord tissue, the only US company to have done so for these specific tissue types across several condition categories. That research is registered publicly on ClinicalTrials.gov.
His philosophy is direct: patients deserve the best available regenerative care, delivered by providers who are honest about the evidence, the risks, and the alternatives. That philosophy is what R3 Stem Cell California is built on.

What Every Patient Should Know
We want you to have the full picture before deciding anything.
Stem cell therapy for joint and orthopedic conditions is experimental. The FDA has approved stem cell products only for certain blood and immune conditions, such as some cancers. For the musculoskeletal indications we work with, knee, hip, shoulder, back, tendon, and ligament, these procedures are classified as investigational. PRP is regulated differently but is also not FDA-approved for specific musculoskeletal uses.
Results vary, and no provider in our network will promise you a specific outcome, because honest medicine doesn’t work that way. If a clinic guarantees results from stem cell therapy, treat that as a warning sign, not a selling point.
